The uniqueness of Meet Fun lies in its use of materials collected by the client's family. The design team transformed these materials to create a bright and comfortable dining environment, showcasing the beauty of reusing old things. Additionally, the design aims to respect the locality by displaying the cultural characteristics of the surrounding area while emphasizing the brand's identity.
The construction process of Meet Fun utilized various materials, including concrete finish, fair-faced concrete, oak wood, old tiles, steel plates, wooden tables, and leather seats. The floor area spans approximately 330 square meters and is divided into a bar area, dining area, kitchen, and storage room.
In order to maximize the spaciousness of the site and create an open and bright visual experience, the design team strategically adjusted the position of the kitchen and bathroom, reducing negative space and enhancing the comfort of the dining environment. The use of the client's collections as construction materials presented certain restrictions, requiring precise calculations to achieve environmental protection goals and resource reuse.
Despite facing challenges such as a low ceiling height, limited building materials, and specifications from the building management committee, the design team persevered and successfully created a modern Italian restaurant with a simple and bright style. The finished project, completed in March 2019, showcases a seamless blend of tradition and modernity.
Meet Fun was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2020 for its outstanding and creatively ingenious design. This prestigious award recognizes designs that authenticate experience and resourcefulness, incorporating best practices in art, science, design, and technology. Meet Fun exemplifies strong technical and creative skills, contributing to quality of life improvements and making the world a better place.
With its integration of tradition and modernity, Meet Fun offers a unique dining experience in Taipei. The design team's attention to detail and commitment to sustainability have resulted in a bright and open space that respects the local environment while providing a warm and inviting atmosphere for patrons.
